Hi Ho, I’m Lance Scoular, The Savvy Navigator, and this is a snapshot of my career in international trade, which I commenced in 1968. I have gained experience and expertise through a diverse range of organizations: multinational companies (3M Company & Baxter Healthcare); directorships with companies in the areas of freight forwarding, customs brokerage, international sales and marketing; working with and for industry peak bodies; and Government Organisations.
I have also founded a number of businesses since 1975.

Scoping Report for Sea Cargo Automation Manual/Training Project
for the Cargo Automation Development Fund February - 1999
The Cargo Automation Development Fund (comprising representatives from the Australian Customs Service and peak bodies relating to importing and exporting) funded a scoping report I researched and compiled into the provision of a systems manual and training options for the Sea Cargo Automation System particularly utilising electronic and Internet/ World Wide Web delivery.
‘GST Start-Up Seminars for the International Transport Sector’
In 2000 I developed, organised and delivered 47 Seminars nationwide for the GST Start-Up Office and a consortium of the Australian Federation of International Forwarders, Australian Institute of Export, Australian Shipping Federation & Liner Shipping Services. Other partners included: Australian Taxation Office, AusIndustry, and Australian State and Territory Export Councils
Cargo Management Re-engineering
The Australian Customs Service restructured its computer systems in the early 2000’s and also associated processes relating to the importing and exporting of goods.
I was one of a team on Industry and Customs presenters providing workshops nationally on the changes being implemented by the Australian Customs Service with the introduction of Cargo Management Re-engineering.
